Umrah vaccination requirements

Saudi Arabia requires certain vaccinations for pilgrims. Here's what you need before performing Umrah from The Gambia — and how Golden Umrah helps you prepare.

Before you travel for Umrah, Saudi authorities require proof of certain vaccinations. The main one is the meningitis vaccine — and you'll need a valid certificate to show it.

Meningitis (ACWY) — mandatory

All pilgrims must be vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis with the quadrivalent ACWY vaccine. It should be given at least 10 days before arrival and is typically valid for several years. You'll receive an official vaccination certificate, which we include with your documents.

Other recommended vaccines

  • Routine vaccinations should be up to date (e.g. polio, measles).
  • Seasonal influenza is often recommended, especially for elders.
  • Additional requirements can be introduced for specific seasons — we always confirm the current rules for your departure.

Where to get vaccinated in The Gambia

The meningitis ACWY vaccine is available through approved health centres and clinics. We guide you on where to go and what certificate to obtain, so everything is ready in good time.

Requirements can change season to season. As part of your package we confirm exactly which vaccinations you need and make sure your certificates are in order before you fly. See our Umrah visa page for the full document checklist.
