Unlike Hajj, Umrah has no fixed dates — you can go whenever suits you. The "best" time depends on your budget, the weather you can handle, and the reward you're seeking.
The cheapest months for Umrah
The quietest, most affordable periods are usually outside Ramadan and the school holidays — roughly the months after Ramadan and before the peak season. Fares from Banjul and hotel rates near the Haram are lower, and the holy sites are less crowded, making the rites easier for first-time pilgrims and elders.
Ramadan — the most rewarding
Umrah in Ramadan carries the greatest reward, but it is also the busiest and most expensive time. If your heart is set on the holy month, book early — seats and good hotels go fast. See our Ramadan Umrah page.
Weather to expect
- Makkah and Madinah are hot for much of the year; summer can be very intense.
- The cooler months are more comfortable for Tawaf and Sa'i, especially for families.
- Whenever you travel, pack light, stay hydrated and protect against the sun.
Travelling as a family
Families often prefer school holidays so children can travel — though these are busier. We can tailor dates and connecting rooms; see group & family Umrah.
